Richard Mellin is a degreed engineer, CPA and MBA with over 35 years of accounting and audit experience in public accounting firms and private industry. He has experience with construction companies, architects, engineers, banks, manufacturing, and retail. He has directed and/or performed the accounting function for companies both large and small and is comfortable making the decisions that are needed to successfully manage the business.
Richard’s experience and dual degrees enable him to communicate with the owner, chief executive officer and the management team, allowing him to understand the business and produce reports that are meaningful to all parties. He has utilized reporting models to create reports for management that are timely and accurate, enabling management to respond to changes in business, and therefore increase profitability and cash position.
Richard has negotiated with vendors to develop satisfactory terms and payment discounts; successfully managed insurance and labor union audits; developed audit packs for both financial audits and tax audits; and sought quotes, reviewed and purchased business and health insurance. He has performed cost allocations which spread the general and administrative costs to the proper department or project. Richard has developed operations and procedure manuals which defined the operation and improved internal controls.
Richard is an enthusiastic participant who gets into a company and cares about it as if he were the owner. He is a member of the NJ Society of CPA’s, and the AICPA. He has BS degrees in Business Administration and Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
